Since the introduction of open banking regulation in Europe (Payment Services Directive 2 or PSD2), the industry has been growing at a face pace. PSD2 enables licensed third party providers to access account information using official APIs developed by banks (or account servicing payment service providers such as Transferwise). Today there are over 400 companies that connect to regulated banking APIs and many of them offer bank connectivity as a service.
